Sony has announced a new PlayStation 5 model, which is likely to be unofficially called PS5 Slim. The new model has inside same performancebut offers smaller dimensions, removable disk and 1TB SSD. The new model’s detachable disc means you can buy the digital edition and change your mind later, basically add the drive as a modular accessory for $80.

“To meet the evolving needs of gamers, our engineering and design teams collaborated on a new model that provides more options and flexibility,” Sony wrote on its blog. “The same technology features that make the PS5 the best choice for gamers are packed into a smaller form factor, along with a pluggable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc drive and a 1TB SSD drive for more internal storage.”

Sony says the new PS5 has 30% smaller volume and his weight is 18% and 24% lower than the original model. The new design uses four cover panels (the top is glossy while the sides are matte). Both models offer a horizontal stand, while the vertical stand, which is compatible with all PS5 models, will be sold separately for $30.

But it is not surprising that the news you will get more expensive than the classic PS5. The digital edition costs 450 dollars a for a model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc drive, you’ll pay $500. The new PS5 will go on sale in November in the US at select retailers, and according to Sony, in the following months will expand to all markets worldwide. The company also said that once the classic PS5 model sells out, it will be discontinued.
