Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 a new chapter in the field of flexible smartphones. From the very first look, he left us speechless again. The Flip5 brings a number of improvements and innovations compared to its predecessor and shows the direction in which the future of mobile phones may be headed. This review will focus on what the new Galaxy Z Flip5 brings, how it is used and why it could be an interesting choice for users who want something a little different.

Design and construction – Foldable elegance

If you’ve ever wanted a phone that was smaller, more convenient, and still stylish, the Galaxy Z Flip5 could be just the thing. Its flexible design allows the phone to be folded in half, making it super compact. The biggest innovation in this area is the new hinge, which removes the gap between the two parts, making the phone a little thinner and fits better in the hand. In addition, it is durable thanks to the IPX8 certification, which means that it is resistant to water and dust. This is a big step forward as you can use the phone in the rain or even submerge it in water.

The finish of the phone is also worth mentioning. Despite the fact that the manufacturer offers all colors exclusively in a glossy finish, you don’t have to worry about fingerprints or scratches on the high-quality material.

Other positive points are the excellent haptic response, the reliable fingerprint reader and the stiffness of the hinge, which is just as it should be. The phone has one nanoSIM slot and you can use the second SIM as an eSIM, i.e. a modern solution for flexibility in mobile communication.

Displays – Two sizes, one great quality

The display is an important part of every smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 did not disappoint. The phone has two screens – internal and external. The internal display has a size of 6.7 inches and a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels. It is a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 425 PPI and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This means that the image on the display is sharp, smooth and colorful. The height of 165.1 mm, width of 71.9 mm and depth of 6.9 mm give the phone pleasantly fitting dimensions.

The external display has a diagonal of 3.4 inches and is used to quickly display notifications, time or call information. This secondary screen is a significant improvement over the previous model, allowing quick access to important information thanks to Good Lock technology.

One of the key innovations of the external display is its maximum brightness, which reaches values comparable to the Galaxy S23 flagship models. The phone is easy to read even on a sunny day and you can be sure that you will not step on any important notification.

Overall, the displays on the Galaxy Z Flip5 are excellent, and if you like the flexible concept, you’ll appreciate the ability to use both displays in different situations.

Power – Power in a bendable body

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy chipset, which is identical to the processor in the flagship Galaxy S models. Added to this is 8GB of the latest LPDRR5X RAM type. All this brings excellent performance that can handle most tasks with ease.

Even though the phone has powerful hardware, it can sometimes get warm in the top part where the processor is located, for example when activating the hotspot. But this is not a problem that would affect user comfort.

The phone is available in 256GB or 512GB storage variants, which is more than enough for most users.

Battery life – Sufficient for the whole day

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 battery has a capacity of 3,700 mAh, which is lower compared to some competing phones. Nevertheless, the phone can usually work all day on a single charge. Battery life seems to be slightly better than the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, but the difference is not dramatic.

Fast charging of the phone allows you to charge the battery from 0 to 85% in 55 minutes, to full in about 75 minutes. Wireless charging (15W) and reverse charging (5W) are also available.

Connectivity – Modern standards

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 offers a complete suite of connectivity, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and GPS, GLONASS, BDS and Galileo navigation services. In this respect, the phone does not lack anything important.

Camera – The pictures do not offend

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is solid, but it doesn’t offer any revolutionary features. The main camera has a resolution of 12 Mpx with an automatic focus function, optical image stabilization and an aperture of f/1.8. This means that it is capable of capturing well-lit and sharp images in good lighting conditions.

The camera is capable of recording 4K video at 60 frames per second, which is an excellent feature for video movies. The resulting video has high quality and smoothness.

The front camera is sufficient for selfies and video conferencing, but it is not among the best on the market. If you’re a serious photographer and want a more powerful camera in your phone, this phone might be a bit of a letdown.

Software – Long term support

The most significant innovation in software is long-term support for 5 years, so the phone will always be up-to-date and secure. This is especially important for users investing in a flip phone, as the Flip5 is perhaps the only flip phone that will offer you long-term support.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 brings a number of innovations and improvements that make this foldable phone very attractive. The design and construction are great, the displays are amazing, and the hardware performance is also really good even for more demanding tasks or multitasking. The camera does take quality pictures, but it’s an aspect of the phone that could improve in the future. One UI software provides a user-friendly environment. In short, we were really pleased with the Flip5 and if you are deciding to buy it, we definitely recommend that you touch it in a showroom. However, we can certainly recommend it to you.
