Elon Musk’s new artificial intelligence company xAI will make its own available chatbot to X Premium+ subscribers for $16 per month. Named system Grok is supposed to be a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and it launched this weekend to introduce for a selected group of users. For comparison, OpenAI’s ChatGPT costs $20 per month.

Musk stated that Grok will have similar type of humor, as he himself is known. The CEO also highlighted its capabilities compared to the competition, writing on X: “Grok has access to information in real time through the X platform, which is a huge advantage over other models.” It’s not yet publicly known when it will come out of beta, but Musk confirmed that it will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers when it does.

The timing is not coincidental, as it coincides with the date of the first developer conference of rival company OpenAI (which Musk co-founded and was a member of its board of directors until 2018), which will take place on November 6.
