Although the city council did not (yet) communicate about this via a press release, NUUS learned from another source that almost all Zottegemse city services exceptionally closed on Thursday 23 June will be. This has to do with a major technical intervention that the own IT service has to perform – replacing crucial hardware (core switch) – as a result of which no network connections and electronic actions within the administration will be possible. On the other hand, the city council also wants to offer as many staff members as possible the opportunity to participate in the regional sports day for municipal staff, which will also take place on Thursday 23 June in Aalst.
That is why it has been decided to close all non-essential city services (including the Bevegemse Vijvers swimming pool) that day. For the civil affairs service in the Administrative Center Sanitary, this means that the weekly extra Thursday evening opening will also be cancelled. As we learned, although the weekly Saturday morning opening of the civil affairs service on Saturday 25 June ek with full occupation expired (from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.). Officially it sounds that this is happening “to be able to offer citizens a maximum service this week” but – due to no communication about this – it is very questionable how many citizens are (until now) aware of this.
