Additional leeway is on the way for the youth in Oosterzele. The Oosterzele city council has approved the purchase of a piece of land on the ‘Hemelstraat – Hoeksken – Oude Heirbaan’ site. The ground is adjacent to the ‘Hemelstraat’ playground and will serve as a playground from the summer.
‘The purchase gives 1,623 m² more space for the functioning of the youth associations and opportunities to play for everyone in the municipality. Together with the playground in Hemelstraat, the plot of land will form one large playing field, separated by a stream. From this summer you can romp to your heart’s content.’, says Filip Vermeiren, chairman of the management committee of autonomous municipal company De Kluize. ‘In order to expand the play area in Oosterzele, a playing field behind the sports hall is also being constructed. With both grounds, the municipality is taking a new step in expanding its playing surface that everyone can use,’ said Elsy De Wilde, alderman for non-organized youth work.
