After decades of agreement in Zottegem for the departure and arrival of this international cycling race – originally in Bevegem and in recent years in Grotenberge, where the current coming man for the pros Arnaud De Lie became the last winner last year – the 56th edition of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad for promisesunder the wings of Flanders Classics, now for the first time on Saturday 2 July to the neighboring municipality of Herzele where the start and finish line will be on the Provincieweg in Borsbeke.
The detailed roadmap (+ timetable) of this promising version of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, which is also part of the U23 Road Series, a series of one-day races in the Netherlands and Belgium, can be found at www. omloophetnieuwsblad.be/nl/u23-men. With a view to the safe passage(s) of this cycling race on Zottegem’s territory, the following special traffic measures are announced:
- parking ban from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m: Oombergenstraat (+ next to the carriageway)
- parking ban from 12 noon to 3:15 pm: Paddestraat (part between Borstekouterstraat/Zwalm and Roman Square), Roman Square (carriageway side of the monastery + parking strip next to the roadway), Beugelstraat, Strijpenplein (+ car park), Molenhoek, Krommestraat, Traveins (between Krommestraat and Ten Bosse), Ten Bosse, Sint -Goriksstraat (between Langendries and Oudenhovestraat), Oudenhovestraat and Brakelstraat.
- parking ban from 13h15 to 16h15: Vossenholstraat, Vijfstraat, Bontestraat (part between Vijfstraat and Lammerstraat) and Lammerstraat.
- one-way traffic from 12 noon to 4.15 pm: Paddestraat (section between Borstekouterstraat/Zwalm and Romeins Plein, only allowed towards Roman Square), Molenhoek (direction Krommestraat), Krommestraat (direction Traveins), Vossenholstraat (section between Elverenberg and Vijfstraat, towards Vijfstraat), Vijfstraat (direction Faliestraat/Bontestraat) and Lammerstraat (direction Eikenmolen/Lierde).
