Opening = opening of a music suite or opera. We bring a musical ‘overture’ during the Ghent Festivities that are allowed to take place again. ‘The Ghent Baroque Players’ present a uniquely varied program with both orchestral and chamber music from the Baroque period. This year the ensemble consists of 13 people, including strings, traverso, recorder, harpsichord and two singers. The artistic direction is in the hands of Francis Michels. ‘The Ghent Baroque Players at the Gentse Feesten’ is a unique project because a number of good amateur musicians are surrounded by renowned professional artists such as Dirk Moelants, Siewald Degraeve, Veerle Devos, Wouter Laga and Marcel Ketels. In addition, all musicians play voluntarily for charity.

Where : Blaisantkerk, Blaisantvest 37 in 9000 Gent

When : Tuesday, July 19 at 8 p.m. and Wednesday 20 July at 3 p.m

benefit : the free contribution is donated to VZW Thope and VZW working group refugees Ghent

Traditionally, the concert is followed by a drink at the back of the church, where you can enjoy a glass of wine, a beer … and chat with the musicians.
