Together with four other projects in East Flanders that embellish and/or setting up a multifunctional meeting place at neighborhood level aim, after a year of consultation and preparation, vzw De Bron Zottegem also received the approval from the provincial government (with an associated subsidy) to start with the construction of an experience garden, a piece of park that is freely accessible and where the emphasis is on nature.
In addition, an experience garden also a very important therapeutic added value† In any case, the park will provide extra (wheelchair accessible) walking options for the residents of non-profit organization De Bron or patients of AZ Sint-Elisabeth, but the physiotherapists will also have their treatments take place outside in good weather and/or a chat with the psychologist will be arranged. a peaceful and green environment.
The garden will be laid out between Groenstraat and Marie Popelinstraat, will connect with the existing park of vzw De Bron (see photo) that is already publicly accessible and will also provide access to the city park in the new Lelie district. That way there will be a complete green oasis around the residential care campus of De Bron Zottegem must also become a meeting place for local residents and by extension for all Zottegemnaren. The garden will be designed with respect for native flora that offers shelter to various animal species. Additional elements will be added that can mean extra added value, such as e.g. a playground, an outdoor fitness, a picking garden.
The file surrounding this experience garden was compiled by employees of the Local Services Center De Bron and the paramedical team of De Bron, who were able to reflect their vision on care within this project. The process was always in good agreement with the competent services of the province. In the past year they shared their feedback and expertise so that this joint result could be achieved.
