Police confiscate two scooters and revoke two driver’s licenses

Geraardsbergen/Lierde. On Saturday 09 and Sunday 10 July, the traffic service of the Geraardsbergen/Lierde police confiscated two scooters and two vehicles. The focus of the campaign was on traffic nuisance. “Obviously, there were also checks for other violations that endanger road safety, such as alcohol, drugs and mobile phone use,” the police said.

‘A total of 17 breath tests and 4 drug tests were taken. Everyone blew safe but 2 drivers took a positive drug test. They both received a ‘drugs in traffic’ report and their driving licenses were revoked for 15 days. In addition, 2 electric scooters were also seized because the drivers did not respect the rules,” the police said.

A minor driver was driving on a public road and was carrying a passenger on his scooter. Another driver drove a revamped scooter, while the scooter may have a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The two scooters were confiscated.

In addition, official reports were drawn up for not wearing a helmet when driving a moped, driving a vehicle with more passengers than possible, ignoring a stop sign and ignoring a traffic sign. 9 immediate collections were also made for, among other things, mobile phone use behind the wheel, inappropriate speed, incorrect parking…
