Three weeks of repair work N42 in Herzele: “Schipstraat closed”

The Roads and Traffic Agency announces that repair works are planned from Monday 8 August at Gentweg (N42b) in Herzele. The works are highly weather dependent. They are scheduled to last 3 weeks.

“For better road comfort and the safety of road users, the contractor is renewing the asphalt road surface”, let the Roads and Traffic Agency know† “During the works, car and bicycle traffic will have to follow a diversion. These works will take three weeks but are highly weather dependent. The contractor will start repair work on Gentweg (N42b) in Herzele. He is restoring several zones on the regional road. For a better driving comfort, the asphalt is milled and provided with a new top layer. The works will take three weeks. Asphalt works are weather dependent and the schedule can still change.”

“Cyclists will follow a detour in both directions via the Rotonde N42/Langestraat, the Langestraat, the Tweekerkenstraat, the Rodestraat, the Wijnhuizestraat, Pijpketel, the Armstraat, Vinkenhoek and the Assestraat. Motorized traffic in the direction of Wetteren can continue to drive along the construction site. Traffic in the direction of Geraardsbergen takes a detour via the roundabout Langestraat, Langestraat (N454), Godverdegemstraat, Jasmijnlaan, Tweekerkenstraat (N454a), Kloosterstraat (N462), Smissenhoek, Gaverland, Luiveld and Assestraat until the intersection with N42 . Schipstraat is closed and traffic in the direction of Herzele is diverted via Steenhuizestraat, Holmanstraat, Kloosterberg, Eikestraat and Brusselbaan (N8). Heavy traffic (+7.5 tons) in the direction of Geraardsbergen will be diverted via the N42, N46 and the N8.”
