Geraardsbergen. From Friday 26 August to Wednesday 7 September it will be Summer Fair in Geraardsbergen again. Throughout the period, the foorkramers on Stationsplein are ready to welcome young and old alike. Everyone is eager to experience the summer fair this year as before the corona pandemic. That is why we organize all kinds of activities to make it a real folk festival,” says alderman for culture and festivities Ann Panis.
On Friday 26 August, the fair weekend at Stationsplein opens with the Tropical Night. The summery beats come from Because Het Kan Soundsystem. On Saturday 27 August from 8 pm we welcome various artists on the Marktplein. We start with local talent NUï. With NUï, singer Emma De Quick brings electro-dark pop driven by floating synthesizers, deep basses and special effects. At 9.30 pm Tinne & The Oltmans provide the ambiance on the Markt. The ‘Lisa’ actress sings English and Dutch covers and easily wins over the audience. We close with the Wednesday Night Jams Band with Erik Goossens and Dirk Cassiers. Whether it’s Pop, Soul, Rock, Funk, Blues or Dance, there’s loads of talent, loads of experience and every song on the stage.
On Sunday, August 28, at 10 am, there is traditionally the Procession of Plaisance with the Geraardsberg associations who precede the shrine of Saint Bartholomew with their Manneken Pis on their shoulder. There is plenty of entertainment on the Market from 2 pm. The oldest fair race in the country, the City Prize for Elite, will take place on Wednesday 31 August from 2 pm.
On Friday, September 2, we can once again enjoy the traditional fireworks with fireworks concert by Concertband Cecilia Geraardsbergen from 8 pm. This year, after the fireworks, you can stretch your legs to the pops of DJ Lars Vegas. On Saturday 3 August from 1 pm, Muurrock 4 Kids will celebrate its tenth birthday. It promises to be a top edition with none other than #LikeMe and a dazzling disco show.
We will close the Summer Fair with the horse competition on Sunday, September 4 from 1 pm. The fairground attractions will remain on Stationsplein until Wednesday 7 September.
