Magalie Aspeele – a photographer from Brakel transformed a piece of building land into a true floral splendor with a lot of biodiversity.
Magalie: “On the one hand I created the flower meadow to give my customers a unique private photo shoot location (I am a photographer), but also to create biodiversity. Hundreds of bees and bumblebees are buzzing in the field.”
Five months of work
Magalie: “It took me about 5 months! Last summer we bought a building plot, because we didn’t have any building plans yet, my partner came up with the idea during the winter to sow a flower meadow so that I could have my own photo location this summer. It is not always easy as a photographer to offer exclusive spots, for which you do not have to pay rent yourself. We finally started at the end of March with a piece of soil to dig, mix in compost and lime the soil to prepare it for the sowing process. Unfortunately, May was a very dry month which threatened to fail germination, but eventually rain came. At the beginning of July, the first flowers were finally there. The alternation of sun and rain of the past few months were the perfect conditions for the growing process. It is important to mention that I chose seeds that grow flowers that are not toxic to humans or animals. This is very important if you want to photograph people in it. It is true that the location is not accessible to the public as it concerns a piece of building land. During the day I let the bees do their work, and in the evening when they return to flight or sleep, I take pictures. The flower meadow photo sessions have already been booked for the entire month of July, but we still have a few places in August. There are different formulas available, including a formula where they get a drink and can pick a bouquet of flowers at the end of the photo shoot. A deluxe formula that immediately gives a nice keepsake to take home. An appointment can be made via ‘Photographer Magalie Aspeele’, e-mail address: [email protected] Finally, the flower meadow will have a nice closing at the end of the summer. At the end of flowering, there will also be photo shoots for dogs.”
