The LRV Brakel riding association was founded in July 1947 by the late Albert De Wolf, who was chairman for many years with Michel Bousard as secretary. In 1949 they organized the first Brakel equestrian tournament. Then in 1964, 1969, 1976 and every 4 years since then. At the beginning of 2013, the starting signal was given for the establishment of a pony club within the riding club. The results of the young riders in the competitions are phenomenal, with a number of provincial champions already in the club. The highlight of St. Pieter Brakel was in 2015 with the organization of the national pony tournament, in which 1100 pony riders from all over the Flemish part of the country took part. This was unique in the sports events of Brakel. The next tournament will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August 2023, with the ponies on Saturday and the horses on Sunday. In recent years LRV St. Pieter Brakel has grown into a strong association of horses and ponies. They participate in the various disciplines within LRV, including dressage, jumping, eventing and group dressage. The riding club continues to grow, with many pony riders, this is a guarantee for the future.
