There are free park concerts on Thursdays 4, 11, 18 and 25 August and you also get a bonus with an apero park concert on Sunday 21 August. It will be an August full of music. After a sabbatical year in 2020 and a pocket edition in 2021, the park concerts in the Moortseel rectory garden will be restored in all their honor and glory this year.
‘The 2022 edition promises to be a high-quality hit’, says culture alderman Orville Cottenie. ‘ The cultural department brewed a fine cocktail with folk, Dutch-speaking, blues drawn from the French-Ghent clay and young violence/talent with ramifications on Oosterzeel soil as main ingredients. More than enough reasons to spend the next Thursdays in ‘the most beautiful court in Oosterzele. Or enjoy a local beer and share your summer stories with that distant neighbor you haven’t seen in a while.” ‘As tradition dictates, the park bar will once again be run by and for the benefit of a number of Oosterzeel associations this year’, explains programmer Els Van Nieuwenhove. ‘This year these are Speelplein Kriebel pleasure, non-profit organization On Stage, WWOO (Windeke in the World Wars) and the Gijzels Genootschap van de Kerkuil. With your presence you therefore also support their work’.
After the successful edition of 2019, the senior council will finally have the opportunity in 2022 to continue the successful edition of the apero park concert. ‘With the Swalm RiverJazz Band’, NEOS Oosterzele, which is taking the honors this year, engaged a real tastemaker’, said alderman for seniors Pieterjan Keymeulen and senior council chairman Paul Cottenie: ‘And for those who still couldn’t get enough after the aperitif , there is a food truck on Sunday afternoons that serves hearty warm sandwiches.’
The park concerts are free of charge and take place in the rectory garden of the Erfgoedhuis Moortsele. The park concerts on Thursday start at 8.30 pm and the apero concert on Sunday 21 August at 11 am. (mvdv, photos ddl)
