There are a lot of decisions to make when building or renovating a home, especially if you want to do it in a sustainable way. How do you make your home energy efficient? Is solar energy for me? Using rainwater, insulating a green roof, roof and facades, … By looking ahead from the start of the process, making a plan and making a well-considered choice, you realize your dream home step by step. But how do you do that???
Very simple: get advice for free! Interested homeowners in Zwalm can get renovation advice free of charge. To this end, the municipality of Zwalm has made the necessary agreements with the Province of East Flanders, which are part of the project “South East Flanders renovates!”.
The construction and renovation advice is a personal conversation with a professional advisor from the DUWOBO support center about how to approach construction or renovation projects in a sustainable, climate-robust and energy-efficient way. During the 2-hour session, the plans are screened, concrete tips are given and a concrete step-by-step plan is developed with solutions in the short and long term.
The sooner you start, the sooner you will benefit from the many benefits that a well-renovated home has to offer.
The advice is independent, qualitative, expert, clear, clear and free for the residents of Zwalmen!
There is now also the possibility to free renovation supervision to get for performing next energy-saving interventions:
- Installing roof or attic floor insulation
- Installing insulation of external walls (on the outside, on the inside or through the cavity)
- Floor or basement ceiling insulation
- Installation of high-efficiency glazing
- Placement of a thermal solar collector system (solar boiler)
- Installation of a heat pump or heat pump boiler
- Placement of a ventilation system
Furthermore, it is also possible to receive guidance for the following climate adaptive measures:
- install PV installation or solar panels
- installing rainwater well and/or infiltration well
- green roofs
- green facades
- sun protection
This supervision is only possible if no architect has been appointed to monitor the works.
“With a view to the climate objectives, it is necessary to focus strongly on home renovation. The heating of our homes is responsible for almost a third of our C02 emissions. Moreover, energy prices have skyrocketed in recent months. The aim of the action is therefore to make sustainable and independent building advice and free tailor-made renovation supervision possible for interested residents of Zwalmen with concrete (re)construction plans, and this completely free of charge for them. This is a very effective tool to make construction projects more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. We can already contribute the costs associated with this through the local Energy and Climate Pact, for which we were previously allocated subsidies.” says Francia Neirinck for Zwalm/Green Ships, who is responsible for housing policy and sustainability in Zwalm, among other things.
