Cozy chats, good food, musical performances full of ambiance, an ecumenical celebration, children’s entertainment, an interview on a current theme: these are the permanent ingredients of the Geuzenfeest. Also this year you can enjoy it extensively on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August at Korsele.
The current affairs around Ukraine made the organizers choose the theme “Give peace a chance”. The theme will be explored in depth during a conversation between Piet Piryns and Bleri Lleshi. He was born in Albania under the dictatorship and lived through the war in Kosovo as a young man. It is therefore well placed to indicate the current situation in Eastern Europe.
In its own way, the Geuzenfeest wants to release a dove of peace as a sign of hope and solidarity with all people of good will.
Practical: the Geuzenfeest starts on Saturday 13 August at 7 pm with a performance by The Ballroom Bogards. This group from our own region brings cozy country and western music. Sunday starts at 10 am with an ecumenical gathering, musically enlivened by a Cameroonian choir. During the aperitif there is guitar music by Egon De Mil. The food festival provides paella and a vegetarian alternative (mandatory ordering on www.geuzenfeest.be). At 3 pm the theme “Give peace a chance” will be explored in depth by guest speaker Bleri Lleshi together with Piet Piryns. Afterwards there is room for music with an evening song and a performance by Grupo Pimenton, who bring South American music full of panache. The party ends, as usual, with music by Maria Mejor around the campfire and hot chocolate.
