Bruisend Balegem will now continue to attach great importance to its ‘old craft tradition’ for the tenth edition. On Sunday 14 August, old crafts will be revived in the Gootje and Balegemstraat. A range of forgotten, disappeared professions and skilled craftsmen, who persevere against time. Worth coming to discover, crafts from days gone by. It is and remains a pleasure to see craftsmen at work. They show how people lived and worked in the past. You will learn a lot about these ancient crafts and also about the function they had throughout history. Pure nostalgia.
Practitioners with artistic ambitions show their creativity and their technical skills. You will discover wooden toys, woodturning, ceramics, small wood engraving, leatherworking, manufacture of key rings, cards macramé, ‘mini – decoupage’ in boxes, wood sculptures, handmade jewellery, spinning of wool and knitting, crochet gadgets and rattles, hand knitting and objects in cork, cuddly toys, tablecloths in crochet, felt, pyrography on wood, glass engravings, handicraft candles, mosaic, crocheted baby items, lace bobbins. Het Gootje and Balegemstraat will be bursting with (old) life on Sunday 14 August. Come by, you should of course not miss this item at Bruisend Balegem. Young and old will enjoy it. (mvdv, photos ddl)
