After two years of compulsory inactivity, the Hemelverdegem Party Committee resumed the tradition of an annual mussel feast with a completely renewed and rejuvenated team on Sunday 21 August 2022. More than 400 people came to taste the delicious Zeeland mussels and those who did not like mussels could feast on delicious balls in tomato sauce. Everything was served with crispy chips and a lovely smile.
The fact that so many participants show up every year may also have to do with the location of the event. Where people generally have a dinner party in a banquet hall or refectory of a school, this mussel feast has been going on for years on the picturesque village square of Hemelveerdgem. In the shadow of the beautiful Saint John the Baptist church and the majestic solitary oak in front of it. The double row of beech trees, between which the tents are placed, completes the picture.
After Work Party
On Friday evening prior to this Mussel Fest, an After Work Party was organized for the second time. From 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., people could get rid of work stress by having a nice chat and/or dancing.
The new board and the many new employees withstood the baptism of fire with flying colors and can look back on a very successful weekend. The beautiful weather, the beautiful location, the ambiance on Friday, the delicious food on Sunday and the passionate employees all contributed to this success.
