On the occasion of the village fair this weekend in Erwetegem, the Ertegemse Trekkers, who are allowed to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their association this year, will on Friday 26 August at 3 pm again at the local rest home WZC De Vlamme to sing well-known, recognizable folk songs for an hour before and together with the residents (and their possible visitors). They will also have a sweet treat for every rest home resident as a ‘fairground gift’.
In the evening, the Ertegemse Trekkers sign for the opening parade of the fair, a playful parade in retro style which departs at 7 pm from the Kattenberg via the Kloosterstraat and Smissenhoek towards the old station at Ten Ede, accompanied by the music company Sint-Cecilia from Sint-Maria-Oudenhove. As a result of this activity, a parking ban will be in effect in the Kattenberg (on both sides) from 5 pm to 7:30 pm and no traffic will be allowed from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
On Saturday 27 August the Ertegemse Trekkers make an appointment for the traditional folk ball with dance, from 8.30 pm in the shed on the farm of the Hoerens family on the Gaverland. With Boma & De Slagerparade on the bill and an afterparty with DJ Danny, the ambiance is assured. An entrance or support card costs 5 euros and also entitles you to participate in a tombola with which a balloon flight can be won. As far as the dress code for this folk ball is concerned, ‘old-time attire’ is desirable.
