A letter to readers about the problem of urinating in public in the Hoogstraat in Zottegem.
“It is true that we and the traders in the Hoogstraat in Zottegem are confronted daily with dog peeing practices because their owners unfortunately allow this. It is frustrating to see every day that people are peeing against the facades of businesses. This is anything but a beautiful view for our customers, let alone what people should not think about Zottegem shopping city when they visit the Hoogstraat.”
“I am therefore convinced that this problem does not only occur in the Hoogstraat, but in all shopping streets in the center. That is why we think it would be better to make the owners of their pets aware that the fronts of the houses are not dog toilets and that the city could perhaps invest in dog toilets spread across the center of Zottegem. Finally, we think to carry out more checks by the police and verbalize the persons concerned. It is not the dog but the owner who is responsible for this.”
The photos show plastered facades in the Hoogstraat over a walking distance of less than 250 meters. “A real shame”
