Jordy De Dobbeleer will succeed Lieven Meert in the city council of Ninove from September. After almost 10 years of OCMW experience, between 2013 and 2018 as a OCMW councilor and afterwards as a BCSD member, De Dobbeleer is moving to the city council. Together with alderman Wouter Vande Winkel, he will be the second green municipal councilor. It is the first time in Groen’s history that there are two municipal councilors.
Jordy De Dobbeleer is looking forward to his new role. “I am going to challenge the coalition to realize its ambition in the field of climate and poverty. Europe has had its driest year in 500 years. We know what to do and the solutions are at hand. I will therefore quickly make some proposals about eg. the softening of the public domain. From the OCMW I want to take my experience with poverty with me. We expect a huge energy crisis this winter. The rich must remain in solidarity with the poor. Only together can we get out of this crisis.”
Alderman Wouter Vande Winkel is optimistic and expects a smooth introduction. “Jordy has known Ninoof politics for years. New blood in the city council is always good. We know him as a worker and someone who dares to intervene. So we’ll be able to put it to good use. (winks).”
De Dobbeleer will remain a BCSD member until October. His successor there will be announced later.
