On Sunday 18 September, the 23rd edition of the Kasseifeesten will take place in the cobbled village of Zegelsem. The main item will of course remain the large flea market between 9 am and 6 pm in the center. (registration before September 10) According to the organizers, the intention remains to put together a cozy and pleasant flea market with stands in the Teirlinckstraat, Ursmarusstraat up to the legendary Haaghoek, known by every cycling enthusiast. The main organizer is Gezinsbond In de Rand (Elst-Michelbeke-Zegelsem), which can call on many volunteers to make this event a success again.
There is also the 20th Kasseidorptocht organized by the Randstappers. The different walking distances are: 6-12-18 and 24km. These tours visit the most beautiful places in Brakel. You can combine the different distances and experience more than 24 km of walking pleasure. You can walk between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The start is foreseen in the school.
The expo in the church (accessible from 9 am to 6 pm) has a lot in store this year. Artists this year are: Antoinette Detant, Martine Caudron and Nancy De Vos.
A special act during the exhibition is the retrospective Paul Delvaux who was born 125 years ago and of which many replicas will be exhibited.
Musical animation is also not lacking, because there are performances by De Koninklijke Harmonie De Eendracht from Mater, De Brakelse giants and the giants from Elst, Helmut keyboard show, Elvis, Geert Bosch, dance group Showspot and The Kwaremont Brodders. Children’s entertainment is also provided. There is the cobbled throw championship.
The apotheosis is the Gouden Kassei throw with the first prize of 125 euros in cash and many other prizes. Special guests are then invited.
People who come to the Kasseifeesten by bicycle can leave them in a guarded bicycle shed along the Holle Weg (side street Teirlinckstraat just past Hong Jing Wok).

It looks like the record in length of the market is going to be surpassed again, well above 2 km.
Friday ll. the pre-opening took place in the church of Zegelsem. Speakers were Bert Broos, Paul Van Ceunebroeck -Omer Wattez, Ingrid Tahon – manager of the Paul Delvauw museum in Koksijde St.-Idesbald, Ludwig De Temmerman – chairman of the cultural council. Then medals were awarded to people for their services to Zegelsem . Les Amis de Paris-Roubaix, with whom a friendship charter had previously been signed in Roubaix, sent a delegation with President François Doucier and Vice-President Jean-Guy Sapin. Antoine and Leen provided adapted classical music and the glass could be raised on the 23ste Cobblestone parties that take place on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Everyone there!
