The new school year meant a lot of change in the primary school department of the Sint-Barbara College in Zottegem. Kurt Van Maldergem is the new director there. He replaces Marc De Groote.
On September 1, Kurt Van Maldergem received the full confidence of the members of the Catholic Primary Education Zottegem school board, chaired by ZEH Dean Hans Vandenholen, and reportedly got off to a flying start, fully supported by his super team from the Heilig Hartplein and Trapstraat departments.
“From August 16, teachers, administrative and policy support staff, as well as maintenance staff and the circle of friends were busy to receive the children in a neat and attractive school environment”, according to the new director Kurt Van Maldergem. During the organized odd jobs days on Wednesday 24 August (Stair Street department) and Saturday 27 August (Sacred Heart department) together with a passionate parent committee, mountains of preparatory work were done. A proud director could already clearly experience that he could start his new assignment with a highly motivated team. On September 1, very enthusiastic teachers and masters stood at the school gate and on the playground. Each of them wore a superhero cape, because the year’s theme is ‘SBC unmasks your talent!’”
“The kids came to school on the first day of school dressed as a superhero or heroine. Every child is clever in his/her way: language clever, music clever, image clever, math clever, natural clever, collaborative clever, self clever or moving clever. During this school year, the children, with all their talents, will be put in the spotlight as ‘Superkids’. The call to dress up was a great success. On the first day of school, superheroes, scientists, adventurers, sportsmen and other great talents entered the school gates. Director Kurt and a delegation from the parents’ committee welcomed the parents with a delicious cup of coffee so that they can continue to play after 8.30 am. could chat for a while. The team of teachers, in both departments, gave each child a warm welcome. It was a happy reunion for everyone and an unforgettable start to the school year.”
“On Friday evening, September 2, the parents, in each class, were addressed by the teachers during an instructive information evening at school. At the end of the evening there could be a discussion in the cozy chat cafe. The parents and the children enjoyed seeing each other again after a good holiday. The starting shot has been given!
