Today Wednesday, September 21, 2022, the Municipality of Brakel solemnly opened the Hoppinpunt at Stationsplein. At 10 o’clock the column was unveiled and a little explanation was given about the use of the Hoppinpunt. For example, there is an extra-large bicycle shed with 20 charging points for electric bicycles, said Sabine Hoeckman, alderman for mobility.
Important link in sustainable travel
The Hoppin point makes it easier to transfer from one mode of transport to another. This makes movements more efficient and sustainable. The choice for Stationsplein is not a coincidence. The electric shared cars are already there and there are many bus connections. Now there will also be a large bicycle shed for shared bicycles and a Hoppin column. This means that all elements are present for a full Hoppin point. The Rondweg, safely accessible by bicycle, is also nearby. On the axis between Geraardsbergen, Ninove, Oudenaarde, Ronse and Zottegem, this Hoppinpunt is being expanded into an important link for those who want to travel sustainably.
Secure bicycle sheds
In addition to sufficient parking spaces, there will be an extra large bicycle shed for bicycles, shared bicycles and oversized bicycles. In total there are also 20 charging points for electric bicycles. The bicycle shed is secured and is opened via an app. The bicycles and electric shared cars make it even easier to leave your own car at home. For example, there are two electric shared cars that you can rent for your trips.
