Geraardsbergen. The gold exchange office in the Grotestraat exhibits two works of art by the Geraardsberg artist Daniël Janssens in its shop window. The bronze sculpture on display, entitled ‘Free as a bird’, approaches the concept of freedom as an ode to creativity. The polished bronze sculpture is technically reminiscent of the jewelery art of goldsmiths.
Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution was the source of inspiration for the ink drawing ‘Evolution’. The technique of hyper-realistic drawing is deliberately used here. The intention was to bring reality and fiction into confrontation. The drawing can be described as magically realistic in terms of style. Both works will be exhibited there until the end of December.
