Christine De Glas from Appelterre-Eichem was the only candidate and is therefore the new Open VLD chairperson in Ninove. She succeeds Yves Evenepoel, who steps aside after six years.
“I have been active at Open VLD Ninove since the 2018 municipal elections. Since then, my interest in Ninove politics has only increased and my candidacy for the presidency was the next logical step. I am grateful for this opportunity, even though I was the only candidate for President. On behalf of the board, I would like to thank my predecessor Yves for his many years of dedication. Together with the newly elected, the guidelines will be further set out. A strong team will be ready for the next elections in 2024. We are going for a positive political policy in Ninove” says Christine De Glas.
Yves, on the other hand, congratulates his successor and praises her enthusiasm and motivation to keep this party great in Ninove. “We do not believe in a city of division, innuendo and selfishness, a Ninove in which everyone has to draw their own plan. We do believe in a city where we reach out and support each other. Our party is used to putting its strong shoulders under Ninove, and that will be no less with Christine as chairman.”
Together with Tania De Jonge, Dirk Vanderpoorten and Luc Chevalier, Christine and Yves will represent Ninove in the regional board of Open VLD.
