Gezinsbond Nederbrakel exists 100 years and on this occasion the board was received at the town hall of Brakel.
The anniversary comes after a difficult period in which a virus controlled the doings of so many. Two consecutive years without Sinterklaas party, toddler swimming and a strict minimum of activities. However, the Bond also does not escape the general trend in the cultural landscape where there are fewer and fewer people who want to take on board responsibility and then the corona crisis comes on top of it. Yet the League still has its usefulness as an organization that is politically and philosophically neutral and stands on the barricades to defend the interests of families. Demonstrations are no longer organized, but the association remains important, if only to prevent the benefits that have been gained in the past century from being phased out.
Families, from three children, can still enjoy the reduction cards for public transport, whereby children up to the age of 25 and the parents can enjoy the reduction for life. The family stamps have now been replaced by the Family Savings Card. With this card you get a reduction in certain stores that is immediately added to the savings card. With the savings you can also pay in the shops that cooperate. Done with the stamps, everything is now digital. In addition, there are also the coupon booklets where per region is a discount coupon from every trader that cooperates. With these vouchers you can enjoy an extra discount. There is also the babysitting service where you can find a babysitter. There is also a sales point where you can buy GSM cards, cinema vouchers, De Lijn cards and NMBS passes at a discount. De Bond also has holiday homes where families with babies and small children and even grandparents are welcome and where members receive a reduction.
The jubilee board consists of Betty Vander Donckt who is chairman, Renée Van Butsele is vice-chairman and secretary-treasurer, Rita De Ruyck, Sandra De Galan, Marie-Thérèse Rousseau, Marc Walraet, Ann Van Breusegem and Linsy Vandendooren. (source April issue Triverius)
