During the opening on Sunday 9 October, the artist will explain her work. Ludwina Degryse exhibits on Sundays 9, 16 and 23 October from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Ludwina’s work – drawings, paintings, watercolors – shows scenes that seem abandoned. She often works in series to show the story from different sides. The interpretation is up to the viewer, yet they seem to be shared, recognizable stories. The source images are stills from films and self-made photos and films, referring to memories.
Concert: Laura Janssens (piano) and Kasper Van de Ponseele
The duo Laura Janssens (piano) and Kasper Van de Ponseele (guitar) will perform an intimate concert on Sunday 9 October at 3 pm. Since Laura Janssens heard the music of Ryuichi Sakamoto as a child, she has cherished the dream of becoming a film composer. Now under the name Laura Y (pronounced ‘why’), she composes piano music for films that don’t exist. Kasper Van de Ponseele adds guitar. This year they played together at TAZ (Theater aan Zee) and launched their song Brain Fogg.
Sunday, October 16 at 3 p.m. POVERTY AND HOUSING
Testimonials by Thope VZW and the Ghent Refugee Working Group. This on the occasion of World Poverty Day the following day, on Monday 17 October. Also handing over of the proceeds of our benefit concerts during the Gentse Feesten. We conclude with moody music.
The Ghent Refugees Working Group supports refugees and people without residence papers by lowering or removing the barriers together with them. Thresholds that prevent them from developing a dignified life. Thresholds that hinder solidarity with the inhabitants of Ghent.
THOPE: In November 2022 ‘Thope’ will exist for four years. We want to work for vulnerable people who are looking for an affordable home. Thope is looking for a place to live on the private rental market in Greater Ghent with and for recognized refugees. Ideally, the owner is willing to rent directly to them. Today we rent 26 houses for a total of 117 people from 9 different countries. And we are also campaigning so that the policy finally solves the housing crisis.
