Yesterday a large litter campaign took place in Zwalm. This in an organization of the environmental council and local government. During this edition, extra attention was paid to the waterways and banks. The local government provided material (fluo vests, gloves, grabs, garbage bags) to make the clean-up run smoothly, says alderman for the environment Francia Neirinck.
“We also organized a specific collection campaign for old mobile phones and computers for the first time. With the proceeds, new trees are planted in Flanders, whereby 1 pc, laptop or server = 2 m2 forest and 4 smartphones, tablets or mobile phones = 1 m2 forest. About 40 mobile phones and 1 laptop were brought in.”
