The well-known restaurant ‘Onder den Toren’ by Koen Brackenier and Nathalie Lamon received a total makeover in a month’s time. ‘Under den Toren’ has been a fixture for decades, first in Gijzenzele, then at the Dorp in Oosterzele. Koen and Nathalie have built up a solid gastronomic reputation over the years. The restaurant immediately won the hearts of culinary Oosterzele and the region with its refined dishes. Those who now want to be spoiled culinary will now end up in ‘MARLOU’, in a completely new hypermodern contemporary trendy interior. ‘It was time to give our restaurant in Oosterzele a makeover, both inside and out’, say Koen and Nathalie, who look back with satisfaction on the team of contractors that managed to get the tough job done in no time. ‘The coordination was exemplary. Everything was put in a new jacket. The layout now looks ultra-modern. ‘The total renovation was the perfect opportunity to put our stamp on our restaurant even more’, say Koen and Nathalie. The case was completely gutted.
September 2022 is another milestone in the history of the restaurant that got a new hip name with MARLOU (a contraction of the first names of their two adorable daughters MARgot and LOUise). Koen and Nathalie have worked their way up to a top address, where a lot of attention is paid to the quality of the food that is served. You can taste that in the refined dishes that look like works of art. With his original dishes, he injects innovation into (world) cuisine. The different flavors really come to life and you can taste it with every bite. No good food culture, without good bread, there is also a lot of attention for the bread that is served, in one word: excellent. You can also drink surprising (affordable) wines. Koen has dreamed of owning his own restaurant since high school. ‘MARLOU’ will also continue to go for refined dishes and remain accessible and affordable for everyone. Traditional, organic and short chain are of paramount importance to chef Koen and hostess Nathalie. ‘Fine dining’. MARLOU, a lovely place to dine. You have to go here. An address for gourmets.
In style and class. This is how one can describe the opening of restaurant MARLOU. With music, an extremely well-kept reception with delicious culinary snacks and bubbles à volonté, and a lot of atmosphere, the ‘restart’ of the restaurant was given a festive look on Saturday 24 September. There are very few places where you will receive such a warm welcome. Upon entering, you are literally blown off your pedestal by the surprisingly new interior. It was clear from the moment we arrived that it would be a great evening. The restaurant was already packed. Much admiration. A true metamorphosis. Everything has been renewed, from furniture, lighting, … to menus. MARLOU has a magical attraction. The modern logo (ML / MARLOU) also radiates class. The impeccably dressed Koen and Nathalie and their graceful daughters Margot and Louise in fashionable party dresses – strikingly chic – were rightly gleaming with pride. Their daughters are already showing quite an interest. That promises, Nathalie and Koen. They have been praised for the inventive way they have renovated their restaurant. A lot of effort has gone into making restaurant MARLOU very attractive.
