Geraardsbergen. On Tuesday evening, October 4, several volunteers from the world shop in Geraardsbergen were waiting for the councilors at the start of the city council to confront them with Oxfam’s climate requirements. They were asked to sign the petition and defend the demands at the regional and federal party level. All councilors have signed. Only the representatives of the Vlaams Belang and the Alternative refused to sign,” said spokesman Patrick Franceus.
“Climate justice is part of trade justice. One is not possible without the other. With this petition we want to hold up a mirror to policy and demand fair climate solutions and an ambitious climate policy from our politicians’, says Angela Van Dijck, a local volunteer at the world shop in Geraardsbergen.
