Geraardsbergen. As an educational institution, the Sint-Catharinacollege wants to encourage young people to be enterprising and train them to become future entrepreneurs, responsible in the society of tomorrow. That is why teacher Danny Schoukens, together with the seniors, organizes a two-day film festival and a senior party. As future entrepreneurs, the young people can learn to do business in a socially responsible manner.
For example, a profit of more than 12,000 euros has been recorded every year. Part of this is used to promote the well-being of the final year students themselves. This way they can experience an unforgettable 100 days with an outing and barbecue. Every year a part was also donated to the social fund of the college. This money is used to help students who are financially more difficult to pay part of the costs. The remainder of the profit is donated to charity every year. The well-being of the local community is central to this. This year, that portion will go to Home Magnolia. The students were given a tour by the director and were very impressed. The realization that not everyone has it equally well ensures that they are extremely driven.
The two-day film takes place in Cinema Focus: on Wednesday 26/10 can you enjoy West Side Story (2021), a kind of modern version of Romeo and Juliet, but with two teenage gangs in New York. on Thursday 27/10 do we show House Of Gucci (2021), a biographical crime film about the well-known fashion family, Gucci. Both films will be screened at 20.00u and costs a ticket €11. If you can’t come, but like to support our project, you can also buy a support card €3 each. Tickets and support cards can be bought from the last year students or via our email address [email protected]. The final-year students organize all this to perfection under the leadership of Xeno Meganck.
