Geraardsbergen. Staff members of the GO! Thanks to the Test caravan, an initiative of the province of East Flanders, Atheneum Geraardsbergen can test sustainable means of transport for their commuter traffic. The GO! Atheneum Geraardsbergen wants to profile itself as a green school and not only encourages students to opt for environmentally friendly means of transport, but staff members are also encouraged to buy a speed pedelec, an electric (cargo) bicycle or the trial passes of the NMBS, De Lijn or Blue Bike to try out.
The enthusiasm was great at the GO! Atheneum Geraardsbergen, because no fewer than 35 employees registered to try out an environmentally friendly means of transport for seven weeks. From October 17 to December 2, 2022, this initiative will allow staff to travel to and from work in a safe and green way.The bicycles are supplied by Ateljee vzw from Ghent, which will also be responsible for maintenance. The project has been around since 2018 and has already received a lot of positive media attention. Together with the organization of the Test Caravan, the school hopes that many KA staff members will also change their travel habits sustainably after this test period.
The GO! Atheneum Geraardsbergen is excitedly looking forward to this fun test project and hopes that the weather gods will remain in good spirits while using these environmentally friendly and sporty transport methods.
