On the Day of the Youth Movement, the Merelbeke youth service will spoil all members and management with a free breakfast. Everyone is welcome on Friday morning, October 21 between 7 and 9 am and preferably in uniform. Alderman of Youth Egbert Lachaert hands out coffee cakes on the Kerkplein in the center of Merelbeke and Merelbeke Flora “without my old scouts uniform, but with great enthusiasm and great gratitude”.

The Day of the Youth Movement is a day of togetherness. Merelbeke has no fewer than 12 youth associations and more than 2,000 members who are entertained and engaged every weekend. Schepen Lachaert: “We can rightly be proud of the commitment of our Merelbekeese youth work. They provide children with unique experiences of togetherness and friendship and unforgettable camps. As aldermen of Youth, I like to participate in their holiday!” Alderman Lachaert: “we would like to thank as many members and volunteers as possible for their tireless efforts. With the extra location we can reach even more children and young people who, for example, live in Flora and go to school in Ghent.”
Also this year, the youth council and the Melse youth associations are joining forces to provide a delicious breakfast for young and old. In 2022 they will not only be ready in the familiar place on the Gemeenteplein, a second location is also planned on the square in Melle Vogelhoek. The breakfast is sponsored by FairTrade Melle.
