The Brakels swimming pool Poseidon in Brakel will close its doors on December 23, 2022. The swimming pool will have served for more than 42 years, according to alderman for sports Marc De Pessemier, together with mayor Stefaan Devleeschouwer and swimming pool manager Nicky Van Der Schuren.
In the meantime, major works have been carried out on the Poseidon to comply with the Vlarem legislation.
The swimming pool costs around 35,000 euros per month (without staff) in operating costs, because the water is kept at 28 degrees Celsius.
The new swimming pool will open during the month of March 2023. An overlap period is not feasible. This means that people are without a pool for three months, which seems to be a problem for school swimming. After all, the Brakels swimming pool is frequently visited by schools.
Sports enthusiasts and enthusiasts can swim during the afternoon and evening hours during the week.
