The first meeting took place on Wednesday 26 October. The new municipal councilors received their ribbon from alderman Elsy De Wilde and started their working year. This should ensure a youthful voice within municipal policy. The children’s municipal council has 18 councilors between the ages of 10 and 12. Each school sent two students from the 5e of 6of grade. The schools themselves determined how the election goes at school. Ships Elsy De Wilde says: ‘We are very happy that we can once again welcome a children’s council. It is inspiring to enter into a dialogue with the children, to hear their ideas and to discuss the municipal youth offer with them’.
In keeping with the chosen theme of traffic and safety, the children then visited the information market about the N42 in community center De Kluize. They received adapted explanations from the Roads and Traffic Agency and afterwards asked questions.
