Meanwhile, more details are known of the brutal homejacking in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (see link) in a house on the Buke in Zottegem.
The perpetrators, two men and a woman, broke into the house around midnight by forcing a window with a crowbar. In the bedroom, the residents, a man (94) and a woman (92), were bound with duct tape on their hands, feet and mouth. After locking the bedroom door and throwing the couple’s cell phones into the bathroom, the assailants searched the entire home. They took a very thorough approach because they even searched for valuables in the shoes, freezer and cookie jar. In the end, the loot was cash from a wallet and a watch. The woman managed to free herself and once the perpetrators had left she crawled on all fours to the hallway where she fell asleep and was found early in the morning around 6.30 am by the home nurse who immediately notified the emergency services.
