On Thursday 28/10/2022 Mayor Jurgen Soetens and Alderman of Culture Katelijne Scheirlinckx opened an exhibition in the Vulpia residential care center Kartuizerhof in Lierde with modeling and painting works by the residents’ Crea working group. This is flanked by creations by ceramist Els Van Heddegem (Ceramics Studio Elspresso), works by photographer Guy Van Simpsen and photos and poetry by Lierde’s village poet Gaby De Smyter.
These works of art can be admired not only at the reception and in the corridors, because for the first time a sculpture was also exhibited in the garden of the residential care center. This work is by the sculptor Renaat Verleye, who comes from Bruges, but currently lives in Deftinge. “The Silent Choir” was previously set up in the cemetery of Zarlardinge as part of the “bizarkunstroute 2022”.
Both the exhibition and the statue in the garden are worth a visit. If you are interested, you can do this during the week as well as at the weekend until mid-December, as the reception and garden of WZC Kartuizerhof are accessible from morning to evening.
