On Sunday 6 November we are organizing a special program in the Kultuurkaffee on Sunday afternoon 06 November at 3 p.m. (KultuurThuis Henri, Brusselsesteenweg 329 in Melle)
On the occasion of the annual commemoration on November 11, we bring a Poetic Evocation that takes us to war across borders and ages, even to the present.
Author Patricia De Landtsheer and word artist Trui Vandewalle bring texts and poems about the horror of the war, based on a true event in Oradour-sur-Glane, where on 10 June 1944 more than 600 people were murdered by the Nazis.
On the wall are 12 drawings found in camps and prisons. We show a ceramic work of art made by sculptor Mieke Degriek, it represents a kind of model of Oradour-sur-Glane. The lament “Letter to my son” is supported by Schubert’s adagio…
Through the darkness the light: in between a presentation of still images from the collection of war poetry, each of which is beautiful black and white photos taken by art photographer Etienne Vanden Bulcke. Unfortunately Etienne himself can’t be there anymore, but his family will be there.
We end with ‘we’ll meet again’!
Entrance : free contribution for the artists who participate in this beautiful musical theatre. Together with the artists we discuss cards, we raise a glass together to better times…
Author Patricia De Landtsheer signs her work.
