On Tuesday, the students of GBS De Vlindertuin in Herzele were visited by Sint Maarten. Remarkably enough, he opted for a cargo bike as a means of transport and therefore left Bad-Weer-Vandaag in the stable.
“In a match between Stalpiet and Sportpiet, Stalpiet was the unfortunate loser. Sint Maarten’s horse was distracted by a carrot lying around. For example, Sportpiet was allowed to accompany Sinterklaas at our school. In a sporty way of course! So, Sportpiet with the bike and Sint Maarten was allowed to take a seat in the cargo bike”, explains headmistress Els De Durpel of GBS from The Butterfly Garden. “Master Carl, as a skilled cargo bike driver, was allowed to bring the right man to his destination. After welcoming Sint and Piet, with all kinds of songs, dances, films, verses, … we were showered with admiration and prizes, class presents. Also the individual, traditional chocolate man and gingerbread cookies were not to be missed. After an extensive farewell with a few more Sinterklaas songs, they cycled back home. Thank you dear Sint and Piet, see you next year and have a happy birthday!”
