Over the past year, the non-profit organization De Bolster, a facility for people with disabilities, has been working on a new cafeteria ‘Bolstro’ at the location in Zwalm (Kasteeldreef 2, 9630 Zwalm).
Cafeteria Bolstro was officially opened yesterday. In the afternoon, the cafeteria was opened to employees, clients and their network.
In the evening, local residents and other external parties were invited to present the name and the new logo. This honor was reserved for client Karen Verschuere and mayor Bruno Tuybens. Cafeteria ‘Bolstro’ was born.
“This new cafeteria is a warm and pleasant initiative in which we want to offer a place for the network and the clients to meet each other outside the home. In addition, we also want to be a warm and inclusive neighbor and hope to be able to meet the neighbors of De Bolster there with this initiative,” says general manager Geert Bonte.
“This opening is a starting point. The Bolstro can serve as a nice base for various activities such as our summer bar, a winter event, a flea market, … We all want to realize many dreams for the good of clients, employees, neighbors and passers-by”.
The operation of the cafeteria will be taken care of by volunteers from the circle of friends, and this on fixed days (every Tuesday afternoon and 1ste in 3of Sunday afternoon of the month). In 2023, additional work will be done on an outdoor terrace so that the whole is more spacious than just the indoor space.
Mayor Tuybens congratulated De Bolster on this warm inclusive neighborhood initiative and emphasized the role that the volunteers play in this story: without them there would be no (Bistro Bolster) Bolstro. In the first place, the 394 inhabitants of Beerlegem (counted exactly yesterday) can enjoy a drink there, but by extension it is an opportunity for all residents of Zwalmen to get to know the clients of De Bolster, or a suitable resting place for walkers.
