Geraardsbergen. In 2023, the Flemish/Dutch week of poetry will run from January 26 to February 1. Geraardsbergen also puts the poets in the spotlight. The local poets Marleen De Smet and Frank Renders joined forces in collaboration with The Preacher and organized Sunday, January 29 at 3 p.m. a poetry afternoon in The Preacher – Markt 9 in Geraardsbergen.
In addition to guest appearances by singer/poet Rick de Leeuw and the Ninovan city poet Willy Verhegghe can you also give your poem a stage during the poem carousel.
Carousel of poems and occasional collection
If you have a writer’s pen and wish to participate, you will be given the opportunity to let yourself go on the poet’s stage for a maximum of two minutes. The theme is free, as is the way in which you recite or slam your poem.
Who registers on time (by December 21, 2022) gets a place in the bundle that can be purchased on site. The profit contributes to the organization of the initiative. Mail one or two poems to [email protected]. The poems may not exceed a maximum of 28 lines of verse, including blank lines. The number of registrations is limited to 24 participants.
If you register later or bring your own poem to the poetry afternoon, you can still take the stage if there is enough time left. And anyone who comes as a ‘listener’ is of course very welcome. The entrance fee is 5 EUR.

Everybody is welcome.
