“There are no French forces engaged in operations in Ukraine“, said the team of the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, for the French publication.
A series of leaked documents detailing plans for Ukraine’s spring military offensive circulating online would imply that French soldiers are present on the battlefield in Ukraine, POLITICO reports.
According to The Guardian, a document states that “a small contingent of less than a hundred special operations personnel from NATO members France, America, Great Britain and Latvia are already active in Ukraine“.
The material would also include information about Ukraine’s training and training capabilities, as well as the death toll.
It is not clear who initially obtained and disclosed the documents and to what extent they may have been altered. It could also be “a Russian disinformation operation“, said the American officials.
“The cited documents do not come from the French army. We do not comment on documents whose source is uncertain“, Lecornu’s team also declared for Le Monde.
