Former US President Donald Trump has decided to challenge in court a court order by which former Vice President Mike Pence is called to testify in the investigation into the violence of January 6, 2021 and alleged attempts to annul the results of the presidential election.
According to sources cited by the Reuters agency, the appeal was submitted to the Federal Court of Appeal in Washington DC
Mike Pence said last week that he will not appeal the court decision requiring him to testify before a federal jury about the conversations he had with Donald Trump before the violence at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The investigation into Donald Trump’s alleged involvement in the violence of January 6, to block the validation of Joseph Biden’s victory in the presidential election, is coordinated by special prosecutor Jack Smith. In another case, prosecutor Jack Smith is investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents collected from his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
