The Bucharest Court of Appeal decided on Tuesday to terminate the criminal trial against the defendant Elena Udrea because the facts have expired. However, the decision is not final and can be appealed.
Elena Udrea escapes a criminal case. The facts are prescribed
„Criminal sentence no. 66/F of April 11, 2023 – Pursuant to art. 396 para. 1, 6 rap. to art. 16 paragraph 1 letter f sentence II of the Code of Criminal Procedure with application. art.5 of the Criminal Code, terminates the criminal proceedings against the defendant UDREA ELENA-GABRIELA (data), regarding the offenses of influence peddling and money laundering, as a result of the fulfillment of the general limitation period for criminal liability“, established the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
The court also decided “the special confiscation from the defendant of the sums of 2,500,000 euros, respectively 900,000 euros (equivalent in lei at the official exchange rate of the BNR, from the date of execution of this security measure)”.
Elena Udrea is currently in prison. She was definitively convicted in the Gala Bute case.
