About 800 people are traveling on one of the fishing boats, while about 400 are on another, according to the BBC. One of the boats left Tobruk, Libya, and is drifting in Italian waters. It seems that the boat has taken on water and that some people need medical attention.
Both boats are heading for Italy, and the Italian coast guard is trying to rescue the migrants.
Italy’s coast guard has rescued around 2,000 people in other operations since Friday.
