The information was reported by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. Andrej Medvedev fought in Ukraine in Prigozhin’s private militia and, after deserting, fled to Norway, crossing the border on foot.
Since then, the man, a 26-year-old Russian citizen, has been waiting for a decision by the Norwegian authorities regarding his request for political asylum in the Scandinavian country, where he was free until a few days ago.
However, last week, Medvedev decided to go to neighboring Sweden and took a bus to Gothenburg. The reason? To buy cheap cigarettes, as many Norwegians do.
According to the newspaper, the man would have missed the return bus and would have decided to walk. At this moment, he was stopped by a Swedish police car and taken to a detention center of the Swedish Migration Agency. As an asylum seeker, he could not travel abroad.
