The Minister of Investments and European Projects, Marcel Boloş, participated on Thursday, together with the President Klaus Iohannis and the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, at the RESS – Renewable Energy School of Skills (International School of Competences in Renewable Energy), in Constanţa.
“The training of specialists in the field of green energy and new technologies is extremely important for employers, for the economic development of Romania, but first of all for the people. European funds have supported the development of Romanians and we continue this strategic approach in the multiannual financial exercise 2021-2027. Concretely, through the Education and Employment Program we invest 4.34 billion euros in education, training and qualification, supporting young people, inactive people, the long-term unemployed and vulnerable categories on the labor market. This Program will ensure support for approximately one million Romanians to become active on the labor market, being trained in jobs sought after on the labor market, such as those in the field of renewable energy, but also for other fields in which the technological advance will lead to the need for specialists “, said Minister Marcel Boloş.
Within the RESS, courses are taught for the qualification and retraining of adults, dedicated to technicians working in the renewable energy industry, especially wind energy and photovoltaic solar energy. In the 14 years of activity, the school from Constanţa has trained over 10,000 people.
In the 2014-2020 programming period, the Human Capital Operational Program with an allocation of 4.59 billion euros provided financing in the field.
In the 2021-2027 financial year, the Education and Employment Program (PEO) has an allocation of 4.34 billion euros and will continue to finance the actions undertaken by Romania in the field of human resources. The program establishes the investment priorities financed from the European Social Fund+, for the implementation of the National Employment Strategy 2021-2027 and the Educated Romania Strategy. The major objective in the field of employment is for the labor market in Romania to become sustainable, resilient, pro-active and based on social innovation, pursuing the valorization of human potential, under conditions of equity, by increasing the relevance of education and training systems for the labor market, in the context the use and development of digital and entrepreneurial skills and the promotion of a stimulating environment for lifelong learning.
This year, within the PEO, 18 calls will be launched, of which 11 in the field of education and 7 in the field of human capital. The first 8 calls for projects will be launched in the second quarter of this year, another 6 are scheduled for the period June – September 2023, and 4 calls will be opened in the last quarter of 2023.
