Romania, having the non-playing captain Horia Tecău, is made up of Ana Bogdan (58 WTA), Jaqueline Cristian (180 WTA), Anca Alexia Todoni (719 WTA), Monica Niculescu (42 WTA in doubles) and Irina Bara (122 WTA to double)
The two fighters from the first match, Ana Bogdan and Kaja Juvan (121 WTA), have never met before in the circuit. Kaja Juvan reached the semifinals of the San Luis Potosi Challenger tournament in early April. The match starts at 14.00, Romanian time and will be followed by the confrontation between Jaqueline Cristian (180 WTA) and Tamara Zidansek (102 WTA).
Cristian won all three games played in 2021 against Zidansek, in Tenerife, Altenkirchen and Trnava.
On the second day, Saturday, the first confrontation brings Ana Bogdan and Tamara Zidansek face to face, from 12:00. Bogdan leads 2-0 in head-to-head meetings on the circuit, last defeating her last year in Portoroz, Slovenia.
Jaqueline Cristian and Kaja Juvan will later play the last singles match. The Romanian also won the two direct matches on the circuit, both in 2021, the last one being contested in the first round at the Transylvania Open.
If necessary, the doubles match would also be played on Saturday between the pairs made up of Irina Bara and Monica Niculescu, for Romania, and Pia Lovric and Nina Potocnik, for Slovenia.
