According to the MAI, more than 24,750 employees of the Ministry are on duty every day these days and ensure public order and safety measures during the Orthodox Easter mini-holiday.
Thus, on Saturday evening, MAI employees will be present in the area of over 10,000 places of worship in Romania.
In the last 24 hours, MAI employees continued their missions to prevent and fight crime, increase road safety, maintain order and public safety, supervise and control the state border, as well as manage emergency situations.
“The personnel of the operative structures intervened in 4,414 events, 2,940 being circumscribed to the maintenance of public order, and 1,474 circumscribed to emergency situations. At the level of the police structures, 870 possible crimes were reported, over 21% of which were ex officio. On the basis of the evidence administered by the police in criminal cases in progress, during the course of yesterday, preventive measures were ordered for 41 people. 159 perpetrators of crimes who committed 154 criminal acts were caught red-handed, and 20 people were found, pursued nationally or internationally, against whom legal measures were ordered. The traffic police acted, at the level of the entire country, to increase the degree of road safety. As a result of the actions in the field, 178 registration certificates were withdrawn and 643 driver’s licenses were withheld, of which 83 were for alcohol consumption and 6 for drug or other prohibited substances”, reports the MAI.
The police and gendarmes found 7,363 contraventions for which fines in the amount of over 2.6 million lei were imposed.
Also in the last 24 hours, the firefighters carried out 68 controls on the line of emergency prevention, and 183 contraventional sanctions were applied for the deviations found, in a total amount of 100,000 lei.
During the last 24 hours, the firefighters carried out 1,187 missions to provide emergency medical assistance, 77 to extinguish fires and 7 to extricate. During the interventions of the firefighters, 7 people were saved.
The pilots of the General Aviation Inspectorate performed 14 aero-medical missions, saving 13 people in emergency situations.
“In the last 24 hours, no Ukrainian citizen has applied for asylum in our country. Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, 4,404 Ukrainian citizens have applied for asylum in Romania. They benefit from all the rights provided by national legislation. Also, from 18.03.2022 until now, 128,542 residence permits have been issued for the beneficiaries of temporary protection, 19 being granted in the last 24 hours”, says the MIA, which specifies that, at this moment, the degree of occupancy of the accommodation centers of the General Inspectorate for Immigration is 51%.
Regarding the traffic through the border crossing points, in the last 24 hours, 28,409 means of transport and 105,713 people entered Romania, of which 7,861 were Ukrainian citizens.
